Studs – Aluminium / Ceramic

Manycon is Expert in fixing Road Studs/Cats Eyes in Qatar.

There are several types of Cat Eyes/ Road Studs that we are utilizing as per client requirements. Road studs are classified based on colour, number of reflective sides, and abrasion resistance. Aluminum Cat Eye/Solar Cat Eye/Ceramic Studs are the most required. We carry a variety of them and provide a preferential rate for professional installation.

Use of Studs;

Road studs play a crucial role in improving road safety. They increase visibility on roads, especially during adverse weather conditions such as fog or rain. The bright reflective material used in road studs reflects the headlights of a car, making it easier for drivers to see the road ahead.

Placement of road stud;

The spacing between two consecutive reflector studs is 4000mm centre to centre (C/C) for straight stretches and 2000mm C/C for bends. They are placed so that they either touch the curb or the median near which they are placed.

Distance between 2 road studs;

freeways, 9 meters to 18 meters depending on the radius of the horizontal/vertical curve.

Stud marking on the roads;

Red studs mark the left edge of the road. amber studs mark the central reservation of a dual carriageway or motorway. green studs mark the edge of the main carriageway at lay-bys and slip roads. green/yellow studs indicate temporary adjustments to lane layouts.

Types of Road studs;

  • Class 1 has an interference fit at one end and a free-running thread at the other.
  • Class 2 has free-running threads at both ends.
  • Class 3 is a three-bolt stud, which is used in high-temperature/pressure applications.
  • Class 4 is used for general-purpose applications.

Use of Adhesive used for Road stud ;

Epoxy adhesive used to attach the pavement's reflective marker and the 360° reflective glass road stud, in order to adhere with the road pavement.

Procedure for Fixing of Road Studs:

  1. Install the isolation facilities
    The installation place should be even and confirmed first, and the plastic cones should be place on the edge of the installation site in advance
  2. Deal with the adhesive surface
    The adhesive place should be dry and clean, and there cannot have sand, water, oil and sewage on the site. It should be washed with steel brush, and dried with compressed air.
  3. Make up the glue for road studs
    Prepare a clean container (a plastic or mental basin without grease dirt, water and impurities) and a weighing scale to mix the glue according to the dose proportion, and then mix them for 5 to 8 minutes with the agitator when the components A and B mix with each other evenly. It will be better to stir them in one direction, and try to avoid mixing in air, which may form bubbles.
  4. Gluing and pasting
    1) When the glue is mixed, it should be pasted in the surface of the ground or the adhesive place of road studs evenly with the thickness of around 2mm. Placing the road studs on the right place, and press them with fingers, and it will be good for the glue just running over the surroundings of the road stud.
  5. 5.  Solidifying and maintenance
    The road studs can work normally after 48 hours if the solidifying temperature is about 5°C. The bolting force will be longer with the extension of time.
